New Year in Stockholm

This is a typical Swedish summer stuga but I am in a flat in the middle of Stockholm. And it is snowing and -10C.
I am spending X-tmas and New Year with my brother Michal. I really came to see his new grand-daughter Tyra, born on 3d of December, now is 31st. Brand new human being, so freh and clean and helpless as her mother Ann Karin said. She is placed on the floor and exercises her tiny arms and legs. Her brother 4 and half and sister 3, break their runnig just in front of her, my heart stops then. But Elliot and Olivia are quite nonshalant about their new situation: not one of two but one of three!

Clever Monkeys (Yasuni National Park)

Here is the monkey in the jungle, where it should be.

Amazon, Coca
Clever monkeys using man made foods. They have to treat humans gently, not to scare them. One of us had bananas in her back pack, so they jumped on her head and got the fruit.
Today I watched the program 'Clever monkeys'. Our so called human unique inteligent skills are theirs as well, and 40 millions years they had it. As David Attenborough beatifully said:
our humanness is not so human. I would say the best of us is animal, the moral codes which we don't keep, religions, wars and pointless agression - are the aberations of our run away brain and being on the top of all food chains. Our numbers grows exponentially, we will swamp all habitats and replace rain forest with concrete jungle and technology.
Then humans will probably die of boredom, those who will survive the wars, famines and sunamis. How lucky for me that I will be dead long before.

Sharks and Iagoonas - Isabela (Galapagos)

Volcanic rocks lagoon where sharks and Iguanas come
to relax and play. This image I picked up from google Earth.

We arrived in the little motoboat. Then walked on
the rocky trail around the lagoon.

Iguanas looked like rocks, it was easy to step on them. I kept saying 'sorry'.

And here are the relaxed Sharks, in the cristal clear water.

I became a member of Galapagos Conservation Trust

The Galapagos National park has informed the trust about my visit, they wrote to me and for £30 a year I am going to do my bit for the lovely animals I saw.

Above video is showing the adaptation of pelicans and one sea lion to man. Is that good or bad? I must ask David Attenborough, when I go to the annual Galapagos Day on 15 September.

This was our base on Isabela island, I think at Puerto Villamil. You walk out into a white beach. If it wasn't nearly the end of the world the place would swarm with tourists.

my trip to Ecuador, Galapagos island Isabela

Here you see market going sea lion, so gentle that a little bird could pek him. The animals here treat humans as friendly creatures. But we are not, even when we try to help them, we change their environment and them.

After this trip I really hate when people say 'they behaved like animals' meaning bad. Animals kill only to eat and never their own species. Humans do it for sport and pleasure, in war and peace. We are the most dangerous animals on earth.

Giant turtles on Santa Cruz wild reserve. One of the guides, Gino said: I have been comming here for last 15 years and have never seen it, you come here for an hour and they put up a show for you. Extreemely lucky.

That was wonderful kajak trip around the lake in search of the monkeys. Late afternoon, Paul keeps shushing us...keep quiet. And suddenly I could see them coming back from drinking, back into jungle.

My trip to Ecuador 18 April - 3 May 2009

View from the lake.

My hut

The path through the lodge.

It was paradise. Only the chorus of insectsin the evenings and birds in the mornings.
Briliant stars at night, sleeping Orion under the Crux.
Thatched roof and the whole hut is made from young palm trees, leaves for the roof trunks for the walls and doors.

My tree of life

Oil on canvas, size, 61 x 45 cm
In the right top branch there is a tiny telescope next to a man-monkey, this is a clue for when I painted the picture - after my astronomy course - about 2007. My interest turned then to evolution and origin of life. The telecope and astronomy and all science are species of human mind.

the Theory of the Observer

Oil on canvas 60 x 60 cm
Painted in autumn 2006 after observing the Universe in Mallorka on Open University course. Working nights in red light. Telescope domes : Kepler, Gallileo, Tycho.
Hottest and youngest stars are blue, middle aged yellow, old are red!!! In art perception red is hot, yellow hotter and blue is cold. I made a mind zoom-in on the stars in this painting.

Cat on the star color chart

Cat Oscar computer art?
